I am currently studying biological sciences at the University of Alberta. Currently, I am a little over two years after the transplant and I am fine, and I am only taking penicillin and vitamin D prophylaxis. In January 2018, I was removed all my transplant medications – and I was just told to continue taking penicillin and vitamin D. A few words of encouragement that made me experience Sickle cell disease and transplantation was a quote that my mother ALWAYS told me: 7 years is not eternal. These words constantly reminded me that even if my current situation is no longer so pleasant, it will come true.
